Originally designed in the late 19th century, Ku’damm was envisioned as Berlin’s version of the Champs-Élysées.During the Cold War, it became a symbol of prosperity in West Berlin, contrasting with East Berlin’s austerity.The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (Gedächtniskirche) at the eastern end of Ku’damm serves as a poignant reminder of Berlin’s World War II history.
