Trellick Tower – London

Trellick Tower is one of London’s most distinctive residential landmarks, rising 31 storeys above Kensal Town in West London. Designed by Hungarian-born British architect Ernő Goldfinger and completed in 1972, the tower is a celebrated example of Brutalist architecture. Its most striking feature is the separate service tower, containing lifts and utilities, connected to the main block by elevated walkways. The result is a bold, sculptural silhouette that looks both futuristic and fortress-like, turning raw concrete into a statement of architectural ambition.

For many years, Trellick Tower carried a troubled reputation, associated with social problems and urban decline. Over time, however, extensive refurbishment, improved management, and shifting public attitudes transformed its image. In 1998, the building was awarded Grade II* listed status, recognising its architectural and historical importance. Today, it is widely admired by architects, photographers, and design enthusiasts, and its flats are highly sought after, commanding premium prices that reflect its iconic status.
