Stralsund

Stralsund is a historic Hanseatic city located in northeastern Germany on the Baltic Sea, in the state of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania. Founded in the 13th century, it flourished as a major trading hub within the Hanseatic League, which shaped its distinctive brick Gothic architecture and rich maritime heritage. The city’s beautifully preserved old town, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside Wismar, features landmarks such as St. Nicholas’ Church, the Town Hall, and the harbor area. Today, Stralsund serves as a gateway to the nearby island of Rügen and combines its medieval charm with a vibrant cultural scene and maritime industries.
