Geysir Geothermal Area – Iceland

Geysir Geothermal Area is a famous stop on the Golden Circle.

It’s the birthplace of the word geyser. The original Great Geysir is mostly quiet today, but nearby Strokkur erupts reliably every 5 to 10 minutes, shooting hot water up to 20–40 meters into the air. The area is filled with steaming vents, bubbling pools, and mineral-colored earth.
