Today’s trip to North Berwick offered a much needed sense of coastal tranquility. Located approximately 30 minutes by train from Edinburgh, it provides a convenient yet distinctly separate retreat from the city. The town is meeting point between the Firth of Forth and the North Sea. The prominent form of Bass Rock stands not far from the beach and is a local landmark. Walking along the beach, accompanied by a steady coastal breeze and the crisp scent of salt in the air, created a reflective atmosphere that enabled me to consider my UK exile and witch trials in North Berwick in 1590 A nice seaside town with its own character.
