Berlin in the Snow – Germany

Berlin in the snow is a city caught mid-thought.

The sky hangs low, undecided. Plattenbau balconies collect white covering the summers planters of flowers. A strassenbahn slides past the pedestrian carefully stepping on the ice. In Tiergarten all becomes a sea of white with only the bare trunks of trees to remind of us of its summer bloom.

Breath turns visible, Boots struggle with the slush. Streetlights bloom early, amber and forgiving. Yet the city still lives. Its bars and clubs a little quiter but still emitting that Berlin buzz.

Snow doesn’t tame Berlin. It lets it pause. Just long enough to remember what silence feels like before the bass comes back.
